Baseball Historian Biography

One of the top power hitters in baseball history, Sammy Sosa is the only player in history to hit over 60 home runs three times, including a career high 66 in 1998. He relied on his excellent bat speed, and his ability to power the ball to both fields. As a fact, it had been said by a few former major league players turned media announcers that ‘Sammy Sosa hits the ball to the opposite field with more power than any player they saw.’

Sammy Sosa is also one of the few players to hit over 500 homers and steal over 200 bases. During his 10-year batting spree he either led the league in homers and extra base hits or was among the leaders.

He played 12 seasons with the Chicago Cubs and was a highly popular player with fans in Wrigley Field.

Defensively he’s rated above average for a power-hitter and he had one of the strongest, most accurate arms of all-time.
